Mountain glaciers are huge compacted masses of ice, embedded in the mountainous terrain. They impress with their huge, breathtaking views. The glaciers are located high in the mountains, but Almaty citizens and guests of the city have an opportunity to ease their way to the closest of them - the Bogdanovich Glacier.
Located behind the Big Talgar Pass, above the famous Chimbulak ski resort. It was named in 1911 by Dmitriev, a scientist-glaciologist, in honor of professor and geologist K. Bogdanovich.
Most of the route you climb by funicular from Medeo skating rink, then from Chimbulak and up to the altitude of 3200m.
The route to Bogdanovicha glacier starts from the top station of the funicular railway. Walks along the worn path up to the moraine talus and then along the rocks to the tongue of the glacier itself.
The hike does not require special skills, but the movement on the rocks requires physical endurance and care.
The guide is certified as a mountain hiking instructor and first aid certificate, so you can feel safe and enjoy the hike.
The mountains are a place of high danger, we recommend not to hike alone, it is better to rely on an experienced instructor.
